RECYCLE

Our mission goes beyond helping families breastfeed to their goals, and keeping everyone safe in vehicles - our mission is also to make the world a healthier place.
Car seats are essential to children's safety in vehicles.  During a child's lifetime you may go through 2-3 car seats, even more if they become crashed or damaged.

What do we do with the waste? How do we cut down on the amount of car seats used and created?

Car Seat Recycling:

To stay up to date with our recycling events, please always check our Facebook event page. If you still can't find your answer, contact us via our Facebook page, texting, or email.

When your car seat has expired, been in an accident, or been recalled without an option to repair, it should no longer be used. But don’t put it in the trash! There is still some life in that seat—recycle it! The materials can be reclaimed and made into something new. Less goes into the landfill and you’re helping to reduce greenhouse gases.

In 2016 there were about 26 thousand babies born in Omaha alone! Each child would likely use 2-3 car seats during their lives to keep them as safe as possible in the car. That's nearly 75,000 car seats JUST for the children born in Omaha in 2016! Each year we are adding on more and more car seats being used to that number!

Most car seats weigh between 10-30 pounds - made up of plastics, metal, styrofoam, silicone, fabrics, etc. If every new baby in the United States got a new car seat at birth that's 3,978,497 seats (in 2015), creating between 39-119 MILLION POUNDS of plastic, metal, fabric, etc EVERY YEAR!

What do people do with those thousands of car seats once the child grows out of it, it expires, or it is in a crash? Well, many people just throw them away! There used to be a place to recycle in Omaha, but they no longer accept car seats. Target does a trade-in event once or twice a year (awesome choice to get a coupon!), and Babies R Us is no longer around to have trade-in events either! So what option are Omaha and surrounding areas left with? Omaha was left with NO resource to recycle car seats until NOW!

UPDATE: Tracy's Collision Center/Auto Body in Lincoln, NE is NO LONGER accepting car seats for recycling.
