Our mission goes beyond helping families breastfeed to their goals, our mission is also to make the world a healthier place.
Breastfeeding is not only one of the best things you can do for you and your baby's health, but also for the health of the world!
When breastfeeding creates waste, we REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE.
REDUCE your need for new pump parts. If you plan on having another child save your plastic parts
REUSE your plastic bottles and parts from your previous pump, if you have some. Do not reuse your breastpump or get one from a friend for sanitary reasons.
RECYCLE your breast pump and plastic parts and bottles when you are done breastfeeding. We donate all good condition bottles and parts to places such as the zoo, animal shelters, women's crisis centers, and more!
Breast Pump Recycling:
To stay up to date with our recycling events, please always check our Facebook event page. If you still can't find your answer, contact us via our Facebook page, texting, or email.
Do you have an old breast pump but don't know what to do with it? Did you know that only 12.5% of electronic waste is actually recycled? Did you know that 82.5% of all new parents start out breastfeeding their babies? Many of them may get a free breast pump through their insurance plan most of them being electronic - that's A LOT of pumps!
Many pumps get thrown out in the trash or shared/sold to another person (read here why this is not a safe/helpful option - https://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/pumping/buying-a-used-or-new-pump/). Help us create a healthier world for our children by recycling your breast pump!
Drop off your pump and any bags/supplies/extra parts (even if broken or damaged) and we will recycle ALL of it for you!
Nurture Omaha is now an official drop off site for used and unused breast pumps & supplies!
Please bring in anything you would like recycled to our office at 8329 Cass St. If our office is closed you can still recycle it by dropping it in the bin located on our back porch (see photo above).
Please bring it anytime during our Nurture Village Support Groups! Support groups are free to attend and we encourage you to bring your baby and stay and connect with other breastfeeding families! Please find more info on our support groups here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2577195352306939/
We are working with a local and family owned small business, Trek Electronic Recycling (formerly Midwest Electronic Recycling) to make sure that every part of your pump gets recycled properly - helping to create a healthier Earth and healthier children!
Check out this great company that we are so excited to work with (http://mwelectronicrecycling.com/)
